Phuket Philatelic Museum
Housed in a beautifully preserved Sino‑Portuguese building at the corner of Thalang and Montri Roads in Phuket Town, the Phuket Philatelic Museum was once the province’s post and telegraphic office. Inside, you’ll discover vintage Thai stamps, postal and telegraph equipment, old telephones, and historical artifacts illustrating the development of communication in Thailand.

This small but evocative museum is ideal for strolling through Phuket’s past in an intimate, authentic setting. It showcases a personal and rich collection of antiques belonging to a prominent Thai‑Chinese family. Exhibits include mining tools from when tin was king in Phuket, old movie posters and projectors, traditional costume items, photographs, and everyday objects from bygone era.

Comprised of Peranakannitat and Phuket Nagara spaces in two Sino-Portuguese buildings, the museum is dedicated to telling the story of Phuket from its early history up to the present day. This modern museum offers a unique and engaging experience through interactive exhibits, art, and cultural displays that trace the island's transformation from dense jungle to a tin mining hub, and eventually to a thriving tourist destination.

Exploring these neighborhoods is a way to immerse yourself in Phuket’s multi‑cultural roots, architecture, and daily local commerce. Old shophouses in Sino‑Portuguese architecture line the streets, displaying pastel façades, ornate details, and historical charm.
